Experience
The
studio was the first one to give the CoBrA-artists the opportunity to realize
their designs in brightly coloured ceramics. The concoction and application of
the glaze colours, at the time still unusual, developed into one of the studio’s
specialisms. In the course of the years it was found that as far away as Japan
there is an interest in the realization of monumental and autonomous ceramics by
this studio. Up till now the studio has collaborated with about two hundred
national and international artists. With some pride we conclude that this has
resulted in about a thousand successful monumental commissions.
Ceramic quality
Clay
may well be regarded as one of the oldest means of expression known to man. Ever
more contemporary visual artists engage in ceramics. Apart from the
three-dimensional aspect the malleability of clay proves to be an attractive
phenomenon. By the application of glazes a form can be realised in the most
sensitive colours. Unlike paint ceramics don’t lose colour. It is washable and
only slightly dependent on climatological conditions. Ceramics possess a natural
perpetual value. Through the improvement of the sorts of clay and because of he
fact that the present kilns make it possible to stoke with high temperature,
ceramics are no more vulnerable than other materials.
